Why steel?
We cooked on wood and plastic for years. Wood needs oiling and drinks up whatever you cut on it. Plastic scars, stains, and sheds little bits of itself into your food. Steel just doesn't do any of that.

What makes this board different

Double-lip design
An L-shaped lip runs along both long edges and hooks over the front of your counter. Push into a stubborn squash and the board stays exactly where you put it. Flip it over and the other lip does the same job.

Strayt Mark is a small brand out of Austin, Texas. We didn't set out to make a whole kitchen line. We set out to make one cutting board that didn't slide, didn't stain, and didn't need babying.
So we kept at it. We sized it for real family cooking, added a lip to grip the counter, put a second one on the other side so it flips, and matched it with a mat that keeps it put. That's the board. We think it's the last one you'll need to buy.

Questions we get a lot
Will it dull my knives?
Steel is harder than wood or plastic, so it's a little tougher on an edge than a soft board. Slice instead of chopping straight down, and give your knife a few passes on a honing rod every so often. Most home cooks find that's all it takes.
Will it scratch?
You'll see light surface marks over time. That's normal for pure stainless steel and doesn't affect food safety. It's a working surface and it'll look like one.
Is it dishwasher safe?
We recommend hand washing. Rinse it under the tap or wipe it down with warm soapy water, then dry it. It's non-porous, so cleanup takes seconds.
How big is it?
23.6 × 15.7 inches (60 × 40 cm), and it weighs 6.64 lb. Measure your counter depth before you order so the lip can hook the front edge.
